Baseball Recap: Bourne Comes Up Short

Bourne extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 1-8. They lost 6-0 to the Seekonk Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-7 two weeks ago.

As for Seekonk, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-4. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Seekonk's part, Cole Arruda was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Arruda has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Kelvin Cabrera was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Colin Lush was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Bourne is set to challenge their familiar foe Case at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Seekonk will take on rival Greater New Bedford RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
