Basketball Recap: Mountain House Triumphs

Mountain House had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They slipped by the Burbank Titans 62-61. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain House to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shamar Jones, who posted 16 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in steals. Coldin Parker was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Burbank's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cedric Sydnor, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Butcher, who scored nine points along with seven assists and six rebounds.

Mountain House has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Burbank, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-8.

Mountain House and Burbank should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Mountain House will face off against Patterson at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday up 518 places (230 vs. 748). Mountain House is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, Burbank (ranked 385th) will meet Florin (ranked 1294th) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
