Baseball Recap: Depaul College Prep Wins Going Away Against Chicago University

DePaul College Prep barely beat Chicago University the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. DePaul College Prep blew past Chicago University 10-2 on Wednesday. While the Rams didn't have the best season last year (they finished 16-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Liam Daly looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Dylan Hecht was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Beni Espinosa, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

DePaul College Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.

DePaul College Prep's record now sits at 6-0. As for Chicago University, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, DePaul College Prep will take on Schaumburg at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Chicago University, they will face off against Grayslake Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Chicago University will need to watch out since Grayslake Central has now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
