Volleyball Recap: Jason Norton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Irvington Preparatory Academy over Shelbyville

Irvington Preparatory Academy was the 2-1 winner over Shelbyville when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Irvington Preparatory Academy fell just short of Shelbyville by a score of 3-2 on Friday.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Irvington Preparatory Academy sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 16-25, 25-13, 17-25, 15-10.

Several Irvington Preparatory Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jason Norton, who had 30 assists and seven digs. Norton has been hot, having posted 12 or more assists the last eight times he's played. John Curry was another key player, getting 18 digs and four aces.

Irvington Preparatory Academy dropped their record down to 13-12 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Shelbyville, they moved to 6-13 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Irvington Preparatory Academy will venture away from home to face off against Indiana Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Whirlwinds will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Irvington Preparatory Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Shelbyville, they will head out to challenge New Castle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
