Basketball Recap: Surry HomeSchool Takes a Loss

Surry HomeSchool was the 69-34 winner over Forsyth Home Educators when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Surry HomeSchool Runnin' Patriots came up short against the Forsyth Home Educators Hawks on Monday, falling 49-27. The Runnin' Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Forsyth Home Educators was led to victory by Taylor Harkey and Baleigh Johnson. Harkey posted 16 points in addition to seven boards and three steals, while Johnson put up 15 points. Harkey continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Myriam Hofeling was another key player, putting up six points and six rebounds.

Surry HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Forsyth Home Educators, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-12 record this season.

Surry HomeSchool and Forsyth Home Educators could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Surry HomeSchool will take on State Line HomeSchool R at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday down 245 places (430 vs. 185). Similarly, Forsyth Home Educators (ranked 316th) will meet Chatham HomeSchool (ranked 157th) at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
