Softball Recap: Brookfield East Starts Season with Win at Home

Brookfield East gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Waukesha West Wolverines 5-4.

Layla Diehl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Brookfield East's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Wahlen, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookfield East will face off against Germantown at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup will give the Spartans their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Waukesha West, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pius XI Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
