Football Recap: North River Christian Chargers vs. Russell Christian Academy Warriors
North River Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 68-8 loss at the hands of the Russell Christian Academy Warriors. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.
Russell Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ty Jones led the charge by rushing for 141 yards and four touchdowns on only seven carries. Jones' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his 14th straight game with at least 106 rushing yards dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bo Morphis, who rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
North River Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Russell Christian Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
North River Christian will head out on the road to challenge Springwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Springwood's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last five matches. Russell Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
