Baseball Game Preview: Basha Bears vs. Brophy College Prep Broncos

For the first time this season, Basha will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Thursday. They will challenge the Brophy College Prep Broncos at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Monday, Basha was able to grind out a solid victory over Highland, taking the game 5-2. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won seven in a row.

Basha got a great performance from Zach Bolles as he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave Bolles a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mason Cantu, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Trevion Jones also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Brophy College Prep can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against Kofa by a score of 5-2.

Brophy College Prep's record is now 2-3. As for Basha, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.

Basha suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Brophy College Prep in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Basha avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
