Recap: Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North Tigers vs. Douglass Eagles
After flying high against the Potomac Wolverines last Thursday, the Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North Tigers came back down to earth. Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North ended up on the wrong side of a tough 55-35 walloping at the hands of the Eagles on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North of the 41-39 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2022.
Douglass can attribute much of their success to Alana Williams, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Francessca Svizzero was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.8 points per game. As for Douglass, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Lions on February 1st. Largo's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Douglass, they will head out on the road to square off against the at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maryland (Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South is ranked 140th, while the Eagles are ranked 161st).
