Softball Game Preview: Indian Creek Braves vs. Greencastle Tiger Cubs

The Indian Creek Braves will face off against the Greencastle Tiger Cubs at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Indian Creek nor Greencastle posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Indian Creek is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Cascade, who was ranked 20th at the time (Indian Creek was ranked 23rd). The Braves came up short against the Cadets on Tuesday, falling 6-0. The Braves' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Greencastle's offense. They fell 4-0 to Edgewood on Tuesday. The Tiger Cubs haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Ali Hassler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.

Greencastle's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Indian Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Indian Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Greencastle struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
