Flag Football Game Preview: King's Academy Knights vs. Notre Dame Regents

The King's Academy Knights will square off against the Notre Dame Regents at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. King's Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Notre Dame will be coming in after a defeat.

King's Academy took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 28-7 margin over Notre Dame. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

A big part of King's Academy's victory came down to the chemistry between Mia Bennette and her top target Jessica Kim. Bennette threw for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Kim picked up 115 receiving yards and three TDs. Those 115 receiving yards gave Kim a new career-high. King's Academy also got help from Jade Cachola, who showed off her sure hands for 105 receiving yards.

King's Academy's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB five times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ayeanna Nelson. Those five sacks set a new season-high mark for her.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Notre Dame's good fortune finally ran out last Wednesday. They fell 12-6 to Presentation. Having soared to a lofty 33 points in the game before, the Regents couldn't push the score so high this time.

King's Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Notre Dame, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-2-1.

King's Academy might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Notre Dame in their previous matchup back in September. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
