Basketball Recap: Avon Lake Comes Up Short

Avon Lake suffered their closest loss since December 10, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Lorain Titans by a score of 61-59. The Shoremen were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Avon Lake has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season. As for Lorain, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-9.

Avon Lake and Lorain could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Avon Lake (ranked 619th) will meet Steele (ranked 262nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Lorain will face off against Garfield Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday down 330 places (338 vs. 8).
