Recap: Ferguson Falcons vs. Varela Vipers

In what's become a running theme this season, the Ferguson Falcons gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They breezed by Varela on the road to the tune of 80-40. The win was just what Ferguson needed coming off of a 79-59 defeat in their prior contest.

Jordan Gonzalez was his usual excellent self, scoring 41 points along with two steals and two blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brandon Vazquez, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Ferguson's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Varela, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Ferguson's road trip will continue as they head out to face North Broward Prep at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. North Broward Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Ferguson likes a good challenge. As for Varela, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Southwest at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Southwest has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 21.
