Softball Recap: Ezekiel Academy Wins Going Away Against Heritage Christian Academy

There's no place like home for Ezekiel Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on the Heritage Christian Academy Eagles with a sharp 19-2 win on Monday. The game marked the Knights' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Lailyn Shelton made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Jillian Newell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addie Newell, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Ezekiel Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in ten consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Ezekiel Academy now has a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Ezekiel Academy will be taking part in a tournament against Fort Dale Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Heritage Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Evangel Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
