Basketball Game Preview: St. Margaret's Scotties vs. Saint Gertrude Gators

St. Margaret is 1-9 against Saint Gertrude since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The St. Margaret's Scotties will look to defend their home court against the Saint Gertrude Gators at 6:00 p.m. St. Margaret's is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59 points per game this season.

On Tuesday, St. Margaret's ended up a good deal behind St. Anne's-Belfield and lost 71-53. While losing is never fun, the Scotties can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Saints are ranked second).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Alicja Brodziak, who posted ten points. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2024. Karla Barreno was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Meanwhile, Saint Gertrude suffered their closest defeat since January 27, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Trinity Episcopal by a score of 63-61.

St. Margaret's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Saint Gertrude, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.
