Baseball Game Preview: Chaparral Lobos vs. Fabens Wildcats

The Chaparral Lobos will face off against the Fabens Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Chaparral lost 23-11 to Cathedral on Tuesday. The Lobos haven't had much luck with the Fighting Irish recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Michael Molina was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Nicolas Flores also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Fabens came tearing into Saturday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 16-9 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Ruben Triste Jr, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted over his last nine games. Ricardo Silva was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Fabens kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.

Fabens' win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chaparral hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Fabens struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
