Baseball Game Preview: El Cajon Valley Braves vs. West Hills Wolf Pack

El Cajon Valley hasn't had much luck against West Hills recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Braves will head out to take on the Wolf Pack at 4:00 p.m. El Cajon Valley has given up an average of 19 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

El Cajon Valley is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 18th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Monte Vista, falling 23-6. On the bright side, the six- run effort marked the Braves' highest-scoring contest to date.

Matias Herrera was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Josue Godina also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, West Hills unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 5-2 to Santana.

Devin Woods was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April.

At the plate, West Hills saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Kulak, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

West Hills' loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 12-11. As for El Cajon Valley, their record is now 0-16.

El Cajon Valley might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from West Hills in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Braves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
