Softball Recap: Colusa Wins Going Away Against Paradise

Colusa put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Paradise Bobcats as they made off with an 11-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the RedHawks in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won four in a row.

Ava Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Colusa let Braelyn Santana and Caeden Agnew run wild. Santana scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Agnew scored three runs and stole three bases. Those three runs gave Agnew a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elli Santana, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Colusa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paradise only posted an OBP of .263.

Colusa's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Paradise, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Paradise will be playing in front of their home fans against CORE Butte at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Colusa will be paying especially close attention to the Bobcats' matchup: after the Bobcats faces off against the Lynx, they'll take on Colusa again at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
