Basketball Recap: Romeoville Takes a Loss

Romeoville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Plainfield Central Wildcats. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 60-58.

When it comes to explaining why Romeoville lost, don't look at Kazaria Smith. Despite the final result, she posted 26 points. That was a full 57.8% of Romeoville's points, marking the 26th time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Oluwatunmise Adebayo, who had nine points.

Romeoville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-19. As for Plainfield Central, their win ended an 18-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-20.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Romeoville will venture away from home to face off against Joliet West at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Romeoville is facing Joliet West at the right time seeing as Joliet West is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Plainfield Central has already played their next match (against Joliet Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
