League recap: Heritage tops Kecoughtan to extend winning streak

Heritage added to the longest winning streak in 4A Conference 18 this week by beating Kecoughtan, 24-19. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Hurricanes.

Lakeland scaled the state rankings by moving to 210 from 260 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cavaliers climbed the ranks as a result of topping Hickory 17-0.

Heritage's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Hurricanes feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jeremiah Boyd has thrown for 563 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Marcus Hook has 15 catches for 346 yards.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Heritage and Phoebus. The Hurricanes enters the game ranked 22nd in the state, while the Phantoms ranks ninth.

Two of the top teams in 4A Conference 18 will go toe-to-toe this week when Heritage takes on Phoebus. The Hurricanes' offense has scored 231 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Phantoms have allowed only 93 on the year.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Heritage takes on Phoebus. The Hurricanes have allowed 112 points this season, while the Phantoms have given up 93. Heritage allowed 19 points last week as it bested the Warriors.

The Hurricanes and Kecoughtan played the most contested game in the league this week, with the Hurricanes eventually emerging with a 24-19 victory.
