Basketball Recap: Grace Christian Falls Short Against Ranked Mountain City Christian Academy

On Friday, Grace Christian faced Mountain City Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Grace Christian Grizzlies took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountain City Christian Academy Lions. The Grizzlies were probably out for revenge after losing 55-53 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Morgan Maldonado was her usual excellent self, going 5 of 10 on her way to 16 points along with seven rebounds and six assists for Mountain City Christian Academy. Jasmine Schaeffer was another key player, putting up 11 points and six boards.

Grace Christian is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-4. As for Mountain City Christian Academy, their record now sits at 9-1.

Grace Christian has already played their next match, a 48-20 win against Nikiski on the 1st. As for Mountain City Christian Academy, they will host Colony at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colony will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Mountain City Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
