Softball Recap: Carter Has No Trouble Against Jefferson County

Carter won the last time they faced Jefferson County and things went their way on Thursday too. Carter put the hurt on Jefferson County with a sharp 17-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Green Hornets, who have now won three contests by 12 runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Maggie Messer, who scored three runs while going 5-for-5. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jenna Wilson, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Carter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson County only posted a batting average of .231.

The win snapped Carter's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-6 record. As for Jefferson County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-7.

Coming up, Carter is taking a road trip to square off against Maryville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Carter's pitchers better be ready for this one: Maryville has averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Jefferson County, they will host Southeastern at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
