Recap: Pikesville Panthers vs. Eastern Tech Mavericks
The Pikesville Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their tenth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 72-59 to Eastern Tech, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Pikesville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Eastern Tech apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2019.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jean-Marc Nken, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That was a full 33.9% of Pikesville's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Antwoine Moye, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Eastern Tech's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jericho Wondeye led the charge by scoring 13 points along with seven assists and five steals. Wondeye has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Matthew Foley was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six assists and five steals.
Pikesville bumped their record down to 1-14 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Eastern Tech, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
Pikesville will be playing in front of their home fans against Patapsco at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Patapsco is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Eastern Tech, they will head out on the road to take on Dulaney at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
