Basketball Recap: Beaufort Academy Takes a Loss

Beaufort Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Battery Creek Dolphins 82-35. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-11.

Kelvin Willis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Battery Creek, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards. Willis continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Aiden Aviles was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points.

Beaufort Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Battery Creek, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beaufort Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Andrew Jackson Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025. Battery Creek and Islands will round out the year against one another at at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Battery Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Islands likes a good challenge.
