Baseball Game Preview: Jim Thorpe Olympians vs. Salisbury Township Falcons

The Jim Thorpe Olympians will face off against the Salisbury Township Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Jim Thorpe beats Salisbury Township with ten runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Jim Thorpe was the clear victor by a 10-3 margin over Pen Argyl on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Olympians.

Nikolas Schwartz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, Cole Lazorick was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Noah Pastor was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Salisbury Township put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Palisades a 5-0 shutout.

Not much got past Austin Spisszak, who gave up just a hit to keep Palisades off the board. That's the fewest hits Spisszak has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Salisbury Township saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Gonzalez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Gonzalez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Another was Josiah Kuhns, who scored three runs and stole a base.

Jim Thorpe now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Salisbury Township, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Jim Thorpe has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Salisbury Township struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.3 hits.
