Softball Recap: Nanih Waiya Snags 13th Win in Last 15 Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Nanih Waiya walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Taylorsville Tartars a 19-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Warriors have won 13 games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Emmalena Cotton was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kayla Blanton, who earned three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Nanih Waiya has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Taylorsville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's still a better percentage than their 4-19 record this season.

Nanih Waiya will take on East Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Taylorsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
