Basketball Recap: Brookfield Takes a Loss

Brookfield suffered their closest defeat since February 9, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Champion Golden Flashes by a score of 60-57. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Flashes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Brookfield saw an underclassman step up: freshman Blake Hammond went 7 for 15 en route to 22 points and three steals. Hammond is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagen Barbe, who posted ten points.

Champion's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christian Williams led the charge by going 8 of 15 on his way to 20 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Braylen Braham, who put up 12 points and five boards.

Brookfield is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-7. As for Champion, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13.

Brookfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-35 loss against Newton Falls on the 4th. As for Champion, they have also already played their next match, a 54-36 victory against Liberty on the 4th.
