The Tri-Village Patriots will venture away from home to take on the New Bremen Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tri-Village has 18 straight victories, New Bremen has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Tri-Village is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 23-1 margin over National Trail on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won ten games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Addy Wright made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Wright was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Camryn Osborne was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Tai Mize, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Tri-Village always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as National Trail only posted an OBP of .222.
Meanwhile, New Bremen might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was Shawnee who claimed the real prize. The Cardinals came up short against the Indians, falling 9-2.
Olivia Thornton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Tri-Village's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for New Bremen, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
New Bremen's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tri-Village has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for New Bremen, though, as they've been averaging 10.8 hits. Given Tri-Village's sizable advantage in that area, the Cardinals will need to find a way to close that gap.
Tri-Village took their win against New Bremen in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
