Baseball Recap: Manville Wins Going Away Against Highland Park

Manville won the last time they faced Highland Park and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Owls. Considering the Mustangs have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Josh D'Ambrosio was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one home run.

In other batting news, Manville let Evan Canica and Brandon Shimp run wild. Canica went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Shimp went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Canica a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bobby Petrone, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases.

Manville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Manville now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Highland Park, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manville will welcome Dover at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Highland Park, they will host New Brunswick at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Zebra will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Owls surely won't give up without a fight.
