Basketball Game Preview: Galena Grizzlies vs. San Dieguito Academy Mustangs

The Galena Grizzlies and the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Galena will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating McQueen, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Galena blew past McQueen 70-46 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Grizzlies.

Galena relied on the efforts of Julia Imse, who almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds, and Mia Turner, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Turner has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Damon, who posted eight points and three steals.

Galena was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McQueen only posted seven assists.

Meanwhile, San Dieguito Academy waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They strolled past the Caimans with points to spare, taking the game 35-18. The 35-point effort marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

San Dieguito Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. As for Galena, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5.
