Preview: Allen vs. Emerson-Hubbard
Emerson-Hubbard have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. They will challenge Allen on the road at 7:00 PM on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one : both teams put up some lofty point totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they meet up.
Emerson-Hubbard gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener two weeks ago. They took their game against Homer by a conclusive 57-26 score. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Emerson-Hubbard had established a 50-26 advantage.
Meanwhile, Allen had to kick off their season on the road, but they showed no ill effects. They took the contest and then some with a 70-6 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-6.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 1-0. In their victory, Allen relied heavily on senior Kyle Smith, who rushed for 227 yards and 4 touchdowns; a key strategy for Emerson-Hubbard will lie in finding a way to minimize his impact.
