Softball Recap: Racine Lutheran Wins Going Away Against Pius XI Catholic

The Racine Lutheran Crusaders got the win against the Pius XI Catholic Popes on Wednesday by a conclusive 12-6.

Iyana Garza made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Garza was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Racine Lutheran let Madelyn Sadowski and Alexis Kiedrowski run wild. Sadowski scored two runs while going 3-for-3, while Kiedrowski scored two runs while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Kiedrowski a new career-high in doubles (two). Emilie Lozano Weaver was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

The victory got Racine Lutheran back to even at 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Racine Lutheran will challenge Martin Luther at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Pius XI Catholic, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Pewaukee at 4:30 p.m. The Popes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
