Baseball Recap: IMG Academy Royal Takes a Loss

IMG Academy Royal lost against Canterbury back in March of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The IMG Academy Royal Ascenders fell just short of the Canterbury Cougars by a score of 4-3. The Ascenders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Josh Riordan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Hayden Waller was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Connor Scheich also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

IMG Academy Royal's record now sits at 8-4. As for Canterbury, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

IMG Academy Royal will be taking part in a tournament against Eau Gallie at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Canterbury, they will head out to square off against Venice at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
