Softball Recap: Newburyport Comes Up Short

Newburyport lost against Triton Regional back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Clippers took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The Clippers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cassidy Balcome was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Balcome is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Isla DeVivo, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Newburyport now has a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newburyport will head out to challenge Pentucket Regional at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. As for Triton Regional, they will square off against Rockport at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
