Preview: Bigfork Huskies vs. Deer River Warriors
The Bigfork Huskies on the road again on Monday and play against the Deer River Warriors at 7:15 p.m. on January 29th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Bigfork suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They had to suffer through a rough 61-24 loss at the hands of Ely/Northeast Range. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bigfork has scored all season.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 98-30, which was the final score in Deer River's tilt against Mountain Iron-Buhl on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Deer River can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Mountain Iron-Buhl is ranked 15th).
Bigfork's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Deer River, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
Bigfork was able to grind out a solid victory over Deer River in their previous matchup on January 2nd, winning 44-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bigfork since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
