            Softball Preview: Mt. Shasta Bears vs. Central Valley Falcons        
        
		
        
        
            Mt. Shasta hasn't had much luck against Central Valley recently, but that could start to change  on Wednesday. The Bears will take on the Falcons at 4:00  p.m. Both come into the  match bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
Mt. Shasta took a nine-run  loss the last time they faced off against Hamilton, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bears had just enough and edged out the Braves  7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  victory the Bears have posted  since April 26, 2024.
Meanwhile, Central Valley came into Saturday's   game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with  a   7-4  win over Anderson  on Saturday.
 Luna Blankenship spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned  (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Lilly Infield, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave  her a new career-high in  doubles (two).  Bailyn Hollister was another key player,  scoring two  runs and  stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.
 Central Valley was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  batting average total in three consecutive  contests.
 Central Valley's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Mt. Shasta,  the  win  got them back to even at 4-4-1.
