Softball Recap: West Prairie Sets Scoring Season-High Against Peoria Heights

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Prairie). They never let the Peoria Heights Patriots get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Monday. The Cyclones not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 8, 2024.

Belle Petty made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Petty was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Jackson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lindsey Dunn, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

West Prairie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in four consecutive games.

West Prairie's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Peoria Heights, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, West Prairie will head out to challenge Astoria/VIT at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Cyclones will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Peoria Heights, they will head out on the road to take on Richwoods at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.25 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
