Recap: Central Lions vs. Hillcrest Jaguars
This season hasn't been kind to the Central Lions, who are still winless after their seventh match. They were dealt a 44-14 defeat at the hands of Hillcrest on Tuesday. Central has not had much luck with Hillcrest recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Hillcrest was led to victory by Arreon "Tweety" Lopez and Sonija Evans. Lopez scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Evans scored nine points along with nine steals and five assists. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for Lopez. Khole Clarke was another key contributor, scoring two points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Central bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Hillcrest, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Central will be playing at home against Lanier at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lanier has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 10. As for Hillcrest, they will head out on the road to face off against Monroe County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monroe County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Hillcrest in Alabama (Monroe County is ranked 95th, while Hillcrest is ranked 334th).
