Baseball Recap: Foothill Triumphs

Foothill never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the El Dorado Golden Hawks 1-0. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 6-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to Grady Wright's shutout, as he gave up just seven hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Foothill's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Evrett Rycroft, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Foothill and bumps their season record up to 6-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for El Dorado, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foothill will take on Cajon in a tournament on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 3.8, the Cowboys 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for El Dorado, they will be taking part in a tournament against Campo Verde at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
