Basketball Recap: DMLK Takes a Loss

DMLK was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 56-15 loss at the hands of the Kennedy Commanders. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why DMLK lost, don't look at Ashley Rodriguez. Despite the final result, she posted seven points. That was a full 46.7% of DMLK's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Kennedy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Morgan Williams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 19 boards. Williams has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Keana Venegas-Alvarez, who had 13 points in addition to seven steals and six assists.

DMLK's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Kennedy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

DMLK will head out to square off against DSST: Conservatory Green at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kennedy, they will host Dakota Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
