Football Game Preview: Cox Mill Chargers vs. Central Cabarrus Vikings

The Cox Mill Chargers will face off against the Central Cabarrus Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cox Mill will be strutting in after a win while Central Cabarrus will be coming in after a defeat.

Cox Mill's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 35-0 victory over Harding University. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Chargers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 126th, while the Rams are ranked 275th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cox Mill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Juice Hall, who rushed for 100 yards and one score. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Casteel, who threw for 159 yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Central Cabarrus was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 17-13 to Olympic. The contest marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Central Cabarrus now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Cox Mill, their win bumped their record up to an identical 2-3.

Cox Mill was able to grind out a solid victory over Central Cabarrus in their previous matchup back in March of 2021, winning 16-9. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
