Softball Game Preview: Columbus Cougars vs. Manhattan Tigers

The Columbus Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Manhattan Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbus will be strutting in after a win while Manhattan will be coming in after a loss.

Columbus took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over Huntley Project. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last six matchups, Manhattan finally came back down to earth on Saturday. They lost 14-2 to Shepherd. That makes it the first time this season the Tigers have let down their home crowd.

Manhattan's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Columbus, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Columbus couldn't quite get it done against Manhattan in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 19-14. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
