Baseball Game Preview: Spring Valley Grizzlies vs. Centennial Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Spring Valley will face off against Centennial. The Grizzlies will face off against the Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Having struggled with 12 losses in a row, Spring Valley turned things around against Centennial on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs, sneaking past 11-9. The Grizzlies' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

For Centennial's part, they got a good showing from Kane Barber, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Barber has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Marco Perez and Terrell Otis stepped up to the plate in a big way. Perez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Otis went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Jackson, who went 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Spring Valley's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 8-15-2. As for Centennial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-11.
