Gateway College Preparatory entered their tilt with Jarrell on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They really took it to the Cougars for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-26 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Gators' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 492nd, while the Cougars are ranked 1147th).

Gateway College Preparatory can attribute much of their success to Pierce Hammond, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 15 points and three steals. The last time Hammond's shooting accuracy was this high was back in January of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Dallas Gurley, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 13 points.

Gateway College Preparatory's victory bumped their record up to 17-11. As for Jarrell, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-19.

Gateway College Preparatory didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-49 win against Salado on the 13th. As for Jarrell, they have also already played their next game, a 61-29 defeat against Marble Falls on the 10th.
