Recap: Victory Christian Academy Knights vs. Mt. Carmel Sundevils
The Victory Christian Academy Knights entered their tilt with the Mt. Carmel Sundevils with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Victory Christian Academy took down Mt. Carmel 77-60 on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Victory Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaiah Owens, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. Owens continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Gray, who scored 19 points along with five assists.
Despite the loss, Mt. Carmel still got an impressive performance from Raymond Hourani, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Hourani is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Blaine Raagas, who scored 13 points along with two blocks.
Victory Christian Academy pushed their record up to 13-8 with that win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.8 points per game. As for Mt. Carmel, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Victory Christian Academy will take on Eastlake at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Eastlake's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches. As for Mt. Carmel, they will be playing at home against San Pasqual at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. San Pasqual will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1086th, while Mt. Carmel is ranked 413th).
