Football Recap: St. Joseph's Undefeated Season over After Nine Games

St. Joseph was the 48-7 winner over Donovan Catholic when they last played one another back in October of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Falcons took a hard 21-3 fall against the Griffins on Friday. The matchup marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Donovan Catholic found their leader in sophomore Henry Byrnes, who picked up 2.5 sacks and made 13 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Having lost for the first time this season, St. Joseph fell to 8-1. As for Donovan Catholic, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. St. Joseph will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bergen Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Falcons will need to watch out since the Crusaders have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests. As for Donovan Catholic, they will host Notre Dame at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
