New Egypt came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Point Pleasant Beach Garnet Gulls a 12-0 shutout. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

New Egypt pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Point Pleasant Beach, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.
