Basketball Game Preview: Soquel Knights vs. Los Gatos Wildcats

Soquel hasn't had much luck against Los Gatos recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Both will round out the year against one another at at 11:00 a.m.

Last Friday, Soquel lost to Pacific Grove on the road by a 59-45 margin. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Breakers 15-9 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Los Gatos took on Priory on Saturday. Los Gatos sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-53 win over Priory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Soquel better focus on containing Anthony Martin and Zach Otoupal as the pair were huge in Los Gatos' win. Martin went 8 for 18 on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds, while Otoupal dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave Otoupal a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Osha Moloney, who posted 11 points.

Los Gatos smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Los Gatos' record now sits at 7-1. As for Soquel, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Soquel came up short against Los Gatos when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 61-51. Can Soquel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
