Softball Recap: Midview Middies vs. Elyria Pioneers
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Midview). They put the hurt on the Elyria Pioneers with a sharp 14-5 win on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Middies in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won five in a row.
Savannah Holcomb made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Those hits were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Midview let Liv Keenan and Nina Ballachino run wild. Keenan went a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Ballachino went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave Ballachino a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Briana Farkas, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Midview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Midview's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Elyria, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
