Mortimer Jordan let Oak Grove stack five runs on them in the sixth inning on Saturday but luckily Mortimer Jordan prevailed anyway. The Blue Devils skirted past the Tigers 9-7. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2025.

Cohen Thompson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Thompson was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Matthew Lucas was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Mortimer Jordan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. The last time their batting average was this high was was before the start of last season.

Mortimer Jordan has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for Oak Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Mortimer Jordan and Oak Grove will both be playing Cordova the next time they take the field. The Blue Devils will head out to face the Blue Devils at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Tigers will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
